Mindfulness exercises are ways of paying attention to the present moment, using techniques like meditation, breathing, and yoga. Training helps people to become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and body sensations so that instead of being overwhelmed by them, they are better able to manage them. Practising mindfulness can give more insight into emotions, boost attention and concentration, and improve relationships.

Tap dancing can do more than teach you some new moves; it's also a fun way to help you lose weight and keep fit.

Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing - excellent exercise for all ages. Classes are open to all staff of all abilities.

BSUH Hikers Society was created by Hamden and Esme as a way of offering staff a healthy and rewarding outlet where you can enjoy the great outdoors in the company of colleagues and friends. Working in a hospital can often mean we overlook our own health and wellbeing in the favour of caring for others, so we hope this group gives you the chance to escape from the chaos and enjoy a bit of ‘me’ time.

Parkrun is a 5km run that takes place every week and is entirely organised by volunteers. Everyone runs for their own enjoyment and it is open to everyone to join in, whatever your pace! Every week they grab a post Parkrun coffee in un-used Dottie's Café. It's a space, not a cafe, so please bring along a flask and perhaps a cake to share!

This is a free service that offers one-to-one sessions with Professional Advisors to help identify steps that you as an individual can take to facilitate changes you want to make.

This is a flexible service, tailored to the needs of staff, outpatients and their relatives, and visitors attending the RSCH. You attend an initial assessment (15-20 mins) with a qualified smoking cessation advisor. We help you to set a quit date and measure your carbon monoxide readings. You are then asked to return each week or fortnightly for a 5-10 minute consultation to discuss how you are getting on and to receive your nicotine products.
