Wear it Pink

Friday 19 October is Wear it pink day, the Breast Cancer Now charity’s flagship event to raise money for research.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. Each year over 55,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and around 11,500 women will die from it.

More women than ever are surviving breast cancer due to better awareness, screening and treatment. Around five out of six women diagnosed in the UK today will be alive in five years’ time, compared to three out of six women 40 years ago. However, nearly 1,000 women in the UK still die of breast cancer every month.

Breast Cancer Now’s research is focused on four key areas – risk and prevention, early detection and diagnosis, treatment and secondary breast cancer..
