Five tips to quit on No Smoking Day 13 March

  • Choose a day to quit and prepare. Make sure you don't have any cigarettes, lighters or matches with you. Avoid places where people around you might be smoking.

  • Remember why you're quitting – your health, your family and your finances.

  • There are lots of effective treatments to help you stop smoking. But if you need some distraction -

  • Call a friend or relative to get some support

  • Go for a brisk walk - this will help clear your head and lungs

  • Stay busy - download the Smokefree app for ideas

  • Drink a glass of water or juice to keep you occupied for those crucial few minutes’ when you are tempted

  • Move around - just going into another room can help, or step outside and get some fresh air.

  • Keep busy and if you find a certain time of day is hard, try a new routine.
