How to weather the heat

Blazing sun, soaring temperatures - summer’s arrived and what could be better? But it’s worth remembering, as the mercury rises, to drink enough water to stay hydrated. The general recommendation is 6 to 8 glasses of fluid a day - approx 1.2 litres.
NHS Choices also suggests:
keep out of the sun between 11am to 3pm, if possible
apply sunscreen - at least SPF15 with UVA protection
wear UV sunglasses, a hat and loose clothing, if possible
don’t leave anyone in a closed, parked vehicle, especially infants, young children or pets
keep windows shaded to reduce heat
turn off non-essential lights and electrical appliances or devices, as these generate heat
check on elderly friends or family who may be more affected by the heat.
